ABSTRA Responsible Hosting Code of Conduct

A commitment to responsible hosting and stronger communities

Short-term rentals provide valuable accommodation options for visitors, support local businesses and contribute to tourism throughout Alberta.

As responsible hosts, we recognize that how we operate affects our guests, our neighbours and our communities. By adopting this Code of Conduct, we commit to the following principles.

1. 1. Follow the Rules

   We will comply with the laws, regulations, licensing requirements and applicable property rules that govern our hosting activities.

2. 2. Be Good Neighbours

   We will take reasonable steps to prevent noise and other disruptions, communicate expectations to our guests, and respond promptly and respectfully to legitimate concerns.

3. 3. Prioritize Guest Safety

   We will maintain safe, clean and well-kept accommodation, provide appropriate safety information and address known hazards promptly.

4. 4. Be Honest and Fair

   We will accurately represent our properties, communicate booking conditions clearly, respect guest privacy and deal fairly with guests.

5. 5. Manage Responsibly

   We will provide guests with clear instructions and appropriate contact information, take reasonable steps to prevent disruptive behaviour, and address property or guest concerns in a timely manner.

6. 6. Respect Our Communities

   We will treat residents and visitors with respect, minimize our impact on the surrounding community and encourage guests to support local businesses and respect local expectations.

7. 7. Act with Integrity

   We recognize that our actions reflect on the wider short-term rental industry. We will act responsibly, address concerns in good faith and continually strive to improve our hosting practices.
